ARCHIVED: What is GEON?
The Geosciences Network (GEON) is a TeraGrid Science Gateway project established to develop cyberinfrastructure in support of geoscience research, and help prepare and train current and future geoscience researchers, educators, and practitioners to use cyberinfrastructure to meet their research, education, and professional goals.
To facilitate the integration of variety of multi-dimensional data, GEON is developing the OpenEarth Framework (OEF). The topmost layers of the OEF consist of digital elevation models (DEMs), which can be obtained from a variety of topographic data.
For more, see the GEON portal.
