In iTunes U, how can I import my podcast from the IU Podcast Portal or the Oncourse CL Podcasts tool?

If you already have a podcast hosted on the Indiana University Podcast Portal or in an Oncourse CL site with the Podcasts tool, you can make that podcast available simultaneously in your iTunes U site as well:

  1. In Oncourse CL, make sure the iTunes U tool is added to your site; see Using Oncourse CL, how do I add, edit, or remove tools?

  2. In your site's menubar, click iTunes U.

  3. In iTunes U, click Edit Page in the upper right.

  4. Click the + (plus sign) next to the row of tabs in the middle of the page.

  5. From the "Type" drop-down list, select Feed.

  6. Copy your feed URL from the IU Podcast Portal or Oncourse CL Podcasts tool, and then enter it in the "Feed URL" field.

  7. Select None for "Security", None for "Signature", and Daily for "Check for changes".

  8. Enter the email address of the original owner of the podcast.

Note: You may need to have permission from the copyright owner, if it is not you, to redistribute a podcast this way via iTunes U.

  9. Edit the name of the tab.

  10. Click Apply.

  11. You will see all podcasts from the IU Podcast Portal appear below. When you're finished, click End Editing in the upper right.

Note: Indiana University has launched a public iTunes U site in the iTunes Store, but continues to offer iTunes U sites that require IU Network ID authentication (accessible via Oncourse CL or at http://itunes.iu.edu/). Content in the public iTunes U site is searchable by users worldwide via the iTunes Store and requires no authentication. To make your podcast available to the public, add the iTunes U tool to your Oncourse CL site, and then fill out and submit the iTunes U Request Form.
