What is dbSNP?
The Single Nucleotide Polymorphism Database (dbSNP) is a large database of nucleotide sequence variations in genetic material. dbSNP is maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).
dbSNP is actually a collection of databases including:
- A collection of tables for each individual species
- A collection of tables shared by all species
For more, see the dbSNP home page. See Searching dbSNP for directions on querying the SNP database.
