On Quarry at IU, how do I submit a SAS batch job?

To submit a SAS batch job on the Quarry cluster at Indiana University, create your SAS file (e.g., mysas.sas), and then write a script file (e.g., mysas.script) for TORQUE (also called PBS), the resource manager on Quarry, as follows:

#!/bin/bash #PBS -k o #PBS -l nodes=1:ppn=2,walltime=30:00 #PBS -M username@indiana.edu #PBS -m abe #PBS -N JobName #PBS -j oe sas mysas.sas

Notes:

  • If you are not working in the default directory (e.g., /N/u/username/Quarry), you need to change the directory in the script (e.g., cd /N/u/username/Quarry/new) and mysas.sas (e.g., '~/new/') files.
  • For more details about the above sample script, including how to customize it for your batch job, see At IU, how do I use TORQUE/PBS on Quarry?

To submit the script file to TORQUE, enter:

$qsub mysas.script

To check the status of your job, use either the qstat or showq command. After the job is executed, you will receive email confirmation.

You may see a log file (mysas.log) and an output file (mysas.lis) in the default directory.
