What is Microsoft DreamSpark, and how do I access it at IU?

The Microsoft DreamSpark program allows students anywhere to download professional-grade development and design tools at no charge. To access DreamSpark at Indiana University:

  1. Visit Microsoft DreamSpark.

  2. Near the top, click Sign In.

  3. If you have an Imail account, you can use username@imail.iu.edu as your Windows Live ID by replacing username with your IU Network ID username.

Note: If you do not have a Windows Live ID, click Sign Up on the login screen, and then follow the instructions to create one. Alternatively, if you are eligible for an Imail account but have not yet created one, see At IU, if I already have some computing accounts, how do I get others? Once your Imail account is created, you can sign in using the instructions above.

  4. From the drop-down menu under "Step 2: Select your country", choose United States, and then in the list below "Step 3: Select your school/organization", click Indiana University. Click Select and Continue.

  5. If prompted, authenticate with your Network ID credentials.

After verifying your student status, you can freely download any of the software available from DreamSpark.
