IU Secure wireless connections: BlackBerry 10 and earlier Wi-Fi-enabled BlackBerry devices

If you use a BlackBerry device to connect to the wireless network at Indiana University, use the IU Secure network whenever possible. When you move from one campus to another that uses IU Secure, the device will connect to the network automatically.

Note: You can only connect to IU Secure using BlackBerry models that support Wi-Fi.

On this page:

Connecting a BlackBerry 10 device to IU Secure

  1. From the Home screen, swipe down from the top, and then tap Wi-Fi.

  2. Switch Wi-Fi to On.

  3. From the list of available wireless networks, tap IU Secure.

Note: If IU Secure does not appear in the list of available wireless networks, make sure you are within range of the network.

Wireless access is widely available on IU campuses.

  4. Enter the following security settings:

    • User name: Enter ads\username (replace username with your IU Network ID).
    • User password: Enter your Network ID passphrase.

  5. In top right corner, tap Connect.

Note: For full Internet access over the IU Secure network, you must register your device's MAC address with IU's DHCP service. Until you do this, your device will only be able to reach the registration page over IU Secure. To register your BlackBerry 10 device on the IU network, from the Home screen, open the web browser, and then follow the on-screen directions for IU DHCP registration.
