At IU, how do I install ERDAS IMAGINE 2013?

The installation of ERDAS IMAGINE 2013 is a multi-step process. ERDAS Foundation 2013, a component bundle used in all ERDAS products, must be installed prior to installing ERDAS IMAGINE 2013. ERDAS Foundation 2013 includes Intergraph Licensing, which is used across the ERDAS product lines. You must have full administrative privileges in Windows to install a license file or add remote license servers. The Indiana University license agreement with ERDAS provides only floating licenses; node-locked licenses are not supported.

LPS 2013 is included with IMAGINE 2013.

To install ERDAS IMAGINE 2013, perform the following steps in order:

Uninstall previous versions of ERDAS IMAGINE

  1. From the Start menu, click ERDAS 2011, and then launch the Install Manager.

  2. Remove each item in the list, starting with the last installed item.

  3. Reboot the system after removing the last item.

Connect to a license service

UITS-managed ERDAS central license service for use on the IU network

UITS recommends that you use the UITS ERDAS license servers if your system is connected to the IU network. If your system has infrequent access to the IU network, you will need to use a local license service; skip to Local license service for laptop or home computer.

  1. If your computer is located off campus, first connect to the IU VPN.

  2. To permit license checkout, the ERDAS license server must have the hostname of all systems using the service. To provide UITS with your computer's hostname, email your hostname and your IU department name to UITS GIS, with "ERDAS Central License Server hostname update" in the subject line. Use your IU email address; UITS staff will deny requests from non-IU email addresses. The license service is case sensitive, so carefully review your system's hostname before sending it. For example, if your hostname is home-pc , the server will deny license checkout to system HOME-pc .

  3. To open the Intergraph License Administration application, click Start, select All Programs, and then choose Intergraph Licensing 11.10.1/Intergraph License Administration.

  4. In the Intergraph License Administration application, select the Client/Add Concurrent License Source... menu.

  5. In the Add Concurrent License Source window, in the "Computer Name:" field, type erdas2.uits.indiana.edu . Next to "Port Number:", type 27000 . Click OK.

  6. To display license availability, highlight the name of the server in the "Table of Contents" on the left. After you have successfully connected to the remote license service, exit Intergraph License Administration and begin installing ERDAS IMAGINE 2013.

Local license service for laptop or home computer

  1. To open the Intergraph License Administration application, click Start, select All Programs, and then choose Intergraph Licensing 11.10.1/Intergraph License Administration.

  2. In the Intergraph License Administration application, select the Server/License Host ID menu.

  3. Copy the Composite ID and email this code and your IU department name to UITS GIS, with "ERDAS 2013 license request" in the subject line. Use your IU email address; UITS staff will deny requests from non-IU email addresses.

Note: The system ID and license file needed for IMAGINE 11 are different than those used for IMAGINE 2013 licensing. A 2013 license file will not support IMAGINE 11, nor will an IMAGINE 11 license support version 2013.

  4. Once you receive the license file (which has a .lic extension) by email, save it to your computer and follow the instructions provided by ERDAS.
