UITS-managed ERDAS central license service for use on the IU network

UITS recommends that you use the UITS ERDAS license servers if your system is connected to the IU network. If your system has infrequent access to the IU network, you will need to use a local license solution; skip to Local license for laptop or home computer.

  1. If your computer is off campus, first connect to the IU VPN.
  2. To permit license checkout, the ERDAS license server must have the hostname of all systems using the service. Contact UITS GIS, noting "ERDAS Central License Server hostname update", and include your computer's hostname, your hostname, and your IU department name. Use your IU email address; UITS staff will deny requests from non-IU email addresses. The license service is case sensitive, so carefully review your system's hostname before sending it. For example, if your hostname is home-pc, the server will deny license checkout to system HOME-pc.
  3. To open the Intergraph License Administration application, click Start, select All Programs, and then choose Intergraph Licensing 11.11.1/Intergraph License Administration.
  4. In the Intergraph License Administration application, select the Client/Add Concurrent License Source... menu.
  5. In the "Add Concurrent License Source" window, in the "Computer Name:" field, type erdas1.uits.indiana.edu. Next to "Port Number:", type 27000. Click OK. Repeat the process adding erdas2.uits.indiana.edu.
  6. To display license availability, highlight the name of the server in the "Table of Contents" on the left. After you have successfully connected to the remote license service, exit Intergraph License Administration and begin installing ERDAS IMAGINE 2014.

  3. Copy the Composite ID, and send this code and your IU department name to UITS GIS, noting "ERDAS 2014 license request". Use your IU email address; UITS staff will deny requests from non-IU email addresses.
  4. When you receive the license file (which has a .lic extension) by email, save it to your computer and follow the instructions provided by ERDAS.
