In Minitab for Windows, how do I read in a data file?
Minitab for Windows can read several different types of files, so you have several choices for entering data. Minitab can import files from most major commercial spreadsheet (e.g., Excel, Lotus, Quattro) and database (e.g., dBase) software packages, as well as from ASCII text files.
When using Minitab, your choice of file types is much broader. Also, you do not have to type individual commands; you can use the graphical user interface (GUI) to execute your commands. To import a spreadsheet, database, or space-delimited ASCII text file:
- Launch Minitab. From the main menu, select
File, and thenOpen Worksheet.
- In the dialog box that appears, specify the type, name, and
location of the file you wish to import. From the
files of typedrop-down menu, select the appropriate file type. Then, select the appropriate drive and filename, and clickOpen.
