At IU, how do I purchase IDRISI software?

IDRISI is an integrated GIS and image processing system that includes nearly 300 modules for the analysis and display of digital spatial information.

UITS GIS Services manages the Indiana University site license with Clark Labs for IDRISI and Cartalinx software. At IU Bloomington, IDRISI is available in all Student Technology Centers. To make an individual purchase, see the appropriate instructions:

  • Students: IU students may purchase IDRISI for $39 directly from Clark Labs. The Student Starter license is fully functional for a year after the purchase, and includes documentation and tutorial exercises. When ordering, you will need to provide proof of student status, such as your current semester's schedule of classes.

To order a license, complete the IDRISI Student Order Form, and then mail or fax it according to the instructions on the form. You can pay by check, money order, or credit card. You can order a software CD or download the software online.

  • Faculty and staff: IU faculty and staff may purchase IDRISI for $200 annually from UITS GIS Services. The license year for IDRISI software begins July 1st and ends June 30th of each year. If you have an existing license and would like to continue using the software, you will need to renew in July at a rate of $200 per license.

You can order GIS and remote sensing software using the UITS GIS License System (requires CAS login).

If you have questions about IDRISI software or other GIS and remote sensing software, email the UITS GIS Specialists.

For more information about statistical and mathematical software, email the UITS Stat/Math Center, visit the center's web page, or phone 812-855-4724 (IUB) or 317-278-4740 (IUPUI). The center is located in Bloomington at 410 N. Park Avenue, and is open for consultation by appointment Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
