What is Get Unconnected, and what does it do?
The Get Unconnected software allows you to customize, reapply, or remove the majority of Get Connected's security and network enhancements.
Note: If you run Get Unconnected, you still need to keep your system secure, as stipulated in UIPO's IT-12: Security of Information Technology Resources.
Get Unconnected can customize the following:
- Security policies
- Blocked ports
- IPv6 settings (Windows Vista only)
- Incoming Echo Request (ICMP) settings
- NTLMv2 settings
Get Unconnected can also:
- Uninstall campus virtual private network (VPN) clients
- Remove your computer from the campus ADS domain
- Migrate ADS domain profiles to local profiles
Get Unconnected cannot:
- Modify automatic update settings
- Modify firewall settings
- Remove antivirus software
- Remove Windows updates
- Restore auto-dial or TCP/IP settings
If you wish to configure or uninstall the above, you can do so through automatic updates, firewall, or the Add/Remove Programs or Network control panels.
