What is Get Unconnected, and what does it do?

The Get Unconnected software for Windows allows you to customize, reapply, or remove the majority of Get Connected's security and network enhancements.

Note: If you run Get Unconnected, you still need to keep your system secure, as stipulated in UIPO's IT-12: Security of Information Technology Resources.

Get Unconnected can customize the following:

  • Security policies
  • Blocked ports
  • IPv6 settings (Windows 7 and Vista only)
  • Incoming Echo Request (ICMP) settings
  • NTLMv2 settings
  • Automatic update settings

Get Unconnected can also:

  • Uninstall campus virtual private network (VPN) clients
  • Remove your computer from the campus ADS domain
  • Migrate ADS domain profiles to local profiles

Get Unconnected cannot:

  • Modify firewall settings
  • Remove antivirus software
  • Remove Windows updates
  • Restore auto-dial or TCP/IP settings

If you wish to configure or uninstall the above, you can do so through automatic updates, firewall, or the Add/Remove Programs or Network control panels.
