Note:
Top Hat is replacing TurningPoint Cloud as Indiana University's integrated student response system in 2017. TurningPoint Cloud will continue to be available for spring and summer terms, but will no longer be supported in fall 2017. Instructors planning to use Top Hat for summer or fall 2017 should complete the Top Hat planning form to ensure wireless coverage and technology support is available.

What is ResponseWare Web?

The ResponseWare Web application allows you to use any web browser to respond to questions posed by your instructor, and immediately transfers your answers to the instructor's computer. With ResponseWare Web, you can use your laptop or mobile device in place of a student response device (clicker). For more, see ARCHIVED: Options for student response devices.

Can I use ResponseWare Web?

Before buying a ResponseWare Web license, consider the following:

  • Does your instructor allow ResponseWare as an option for the class? The instructor needs to allow ResponseWare polling access to the presentation.
  • Do you have a compatible device? These include the following:
    • iPhone (app available)
    • BlackBerry (app available)
    • Any device with a web browser that will be available to you in class, including other smartphones
  • Do you have an unlimited data plan for your phone or mobile device? Neither Indiana University nor Turning Technologies is responsible for usage charges.
  • Do you have connectivity in the classroom? Test your device to make sure you have reliable coverage in every location you'll need it.
  • Does your device support AJAX, JavaScript, and HTTP requests? Test your device to make sure it displays information as intended.
