How do I use my Turning Technologies ResponseWare Web account in class?

Before following the instructions in this document, you should have created a ResponseWare Web account and registered it in your class; see At IU, how do I buy and register a Turning Technologies device or license?

On this page:

Connecting to a session

To prepare to answer your instructor's questions, connect to a ResponseWare Web session. To connect using a web browser:

  1. Go to: http://www.rwpoll.com/
  2. Click Login to your ResponseWare account.

  3. Type your email address and your Turning Technologies password (not your IU Network ID passphrase) in the fields provided. If desired, check Remember My E-Mail: for quicker access in the future. Click Login.

  4. On the Welcome screen, type the session ID provided by your instructor, and click Join Session.

Note: Your screen should refresh automatically when the instructor opens the polling for a question, but if your device doesn't support AJAX, JavaScript, or HTTP requests, you may see a Refresh button that you will need to click to advance to the questions and the results.

You can also connect using the free ResponseWare app for either iPhone and iPod touch or BlackBerry. For instructions, see the following video tutorials from Turning Technologies:

Answering questions

When the instructor opens polling, you will see the question and response choices (if applicable). To answer, click your response choice, or for text answers, type the text and click Submit Essay (in the iPhone app, select Done). Your screen will indicate that your response has been received, and your choice will be highlighted. You can change your answer as long as polling is open.

After polling closes, you will see the results for the class as a whole on your screen.

Note: To change the display to a standard keypad layout, click Answer Text View, and then select Keypad View.

Ending a session

Disconnecting from a session removes you from the current session, but does not log you off the ResponseWare Web system.

To disconnect when using a web browser, from the response screen, click Disconnect, and when prompted to confirm, click OK.

To disconnect when using the iPhone app, select your account information, and then on the next screen, select Logout.

To log out of the ResponseWare Web server completely, first disconnect from the session, and then from the Welcome screen, click Logout.
