Can I store ePHI on my laptop or mobile device?

Storing ePHI on mobile devices is highly discouraged. The HIPAA Security Rule mandates that ePHI not be stored on laptops, USB keys, external disks, PDA, or cell phones, unless it is strongly encrypted or unless the data are anonymized (so that they are no longer ePHI).
