Known issues and changes for the implementation of SharePoint 2010 at IU

Following is a continually updated list of issues and changes related to the upgrade to SharePoint 2010 at Indiana University.

Issue Description Status Last updated
Nintex Workflows not functioning properly in Internet Explorer 10 A compatability issue has been identified with Nintex Workflows and Internet Explorer 10. A solution is currently being worked on, but is not available. A temporary workaround for Internet Explorer 10 users is as follows:
  1. Click the gear in the top right of the Internet Explorer window where you will be creating the workflow.
  2. Select Developer Tools.
  3. Click the Browser Mode tab.
  4. Select Internet Explorer 9.

Slow performance when using a mapped drive to a SharePoint site, or accessing WebDAV shares Unusually slow performance when mapping a drive to a SharePoint site, copying or moving files using Windows Explorer, or publishing files to a document library (such as from Excel). To fix, adjust connection settings in Internet Explorer; see Why does Windows take so long to connect my drive mapped to SharePoint? Known issue May 11, 2012
Trouble using the Finder to access WebDAV shares in Mac OS X Using the Finder's Go menu > Connect to Server to connect to a SharePoint WebDAV share does not function properly. You can read and access files, but cannot create new files.

Workarounds:

  • Third-party WebDAV utility such as Cyberduck or Transmit

Transmit supports Kerberos authentication, but Cyberduck does not. Be sure to use the external servers (external.sharepoint.iu.edu or myexternal.sharepont.iu.edu) if necessary.

  • The standard SharePoint web interface via Safari
  • Microsoft Document Connection (installed with Office 2011)
Known issue April 23, 2012
Issues with Chrome and Firefox in Mac OS X By default, Firefox and Chrome cannot successfully authenticate to the SharePoint servers. Firefox can authenticate using Kerberos, but it must be configured properly and only works from IU networks. UITS recommends Safari for Mac OS X users.

A workaround is to connect to SharePoint using the external servers (external.sharepoint.iu.edu or myexternal.sharepoint.iu.edu), which do not require Kerberos or NTLMv2 authentication.

Trouble mapping drives in Mac OS X In Mac OS X, mapping a drive using Connect to Server does not function properly. Users can read and access files, but they cannot create new files.

As a workaround, use the SharePoint web interface (with Safari) or Microsoft Document Connection (installed with Office 2011) to manage files and directories.

Known issue January 6, 2011
Issues with Silverlight features on iPhone Some functions, features, and multimedia content are unavailable unless the Silverlight plug-in is installed. Silverlight is only supported on Windows and Mac OS X.

Moonlight is an option for Linux users. Silverlight Mobile is available only for Windows Phone 7.

Known issue January 6, 2011
Issues with Windows Firefox Windows Firefox users may have difficulty logging in. For best results, configure Firefox for SharePoint at IU. Known issue January 6, 2011
NTLMv2 required for Windows users Windows users not sending NTLMv2 will be unable to access SharePoint until they change their clients. This doesn't affect domain-joined computers; see What is the tool that disables LM/NTLMv1, and where can I get it? Known issue January 6, 2011
Difficulties sharing OneNote 2007 notebooks If you have trouble sharing a OneNote 2007 notebook in SharePoint, see Microsoft Help and Support article 924137.

Search Microsoft Support.
