ARCHIVED: At IUB, why do I have a charge for printing on my bursar bill?

Each semester, students at Indiana University Bloomington are provided with a printing allotment for black-and-white printing. If you exceed your allotment, you will be charged a modest over-allotment printing fee on your bursar account; see Allotment and print funding at IU. These charges will usually be posted to your bursar account shortly after the end of the semester in which you incurred the charges. If you use color printing during the semester, those charges will also appear on your bursar account.

You can review these charges in detail at any time at your printing allotment pages. Select the semester for which you were billed from the drop-down menu, and then click View. You can also check your printing balances throughout the current semester. You will see details of your print record, including printing activity by date, credits granted, bonuses granted, and rollovers. It is particularly helpful to check your allotment shortly before the current semester ends in order to review any anticipated printing charges.

Note: Sometimes a printer or system malfunction will result in lost or damaged output. See Refunds for unacceptable printing output

For questions or to report discrepancies in your printing allotment, contact UITS Leveraged Services before the end of the semester to avoid incorrect bursar charges.
