ARCHIVED: How do I use the Get Connected for iOS utility to configure my mobile device for IU services?
The Get Connected for iOS utility has both Basic and Customized installation modes. Basic mode is especially helpful if your device is new to the IU network, as it installs and configures SSL VPN, security, and email (any account you have established with IU) by setting a configuration profile for your device. Customized mode allows you to choose what you would like to configure on your device.
The utility supports only devices running iOS 4.2.1 or later. To check the iOS version on your device, select

- On your device, go to http://gc.iu.edu/, and select for no customization options; if you wish to customize, select .
- Log in, and if you chose to customize, select the configuration
options you want (e.g.,
If you have previously configured your IU email account on your device, you do not need to configure it again with this utility.
UITS recommends setting a passcode on your mobile device. The utility will let you set either a four-number passcode or a longer, more secure alphanumeric passcode. Once a passcode is set, iOS devices that feature a Touch ID sensor (e.g., iPhone 5s) can be configured to use a fingerprint to unlock the device, in addition to the passcode. prompted to enter your email account password. Enter the appropriate
password or passphrase, and then tap

- If you selected the option to configure a passcode (and have not
previously set one), you will be prompted to set your passcode.
If you see a notice that the profile failed to install, most likely you have a previously configured email account on your device. To resolve this, either remove the email account from your device, or run the configuration utility again (without selecting the option to configure email).
