In Mac OS X, how do I connect to IU Secure if I am booted from my Recovery HD?

If you are booted from your Recovery HD, you must have access to the Internet to perform a system reinstall or to get help online. At Indiana University, UITS recommends connecting via Ethernet rather than the wireless network. However, if IU Secure is the only network available for you, to get online:

  1. From the AirPort menu in the upper-right side of your screen, make sure Wi-Fi is enabled. Then, select IU Secure.

  2. Enter your IU Network ID, and click Join.

  3. On the Verify Certificate screen that appears, click Continue.

  4. If prompted for a name and password to change your Certificate Trust settings, leave both fields empty and click Cancel.

  5. You'll see a dialog asking you to enter your keychain password. Again, leave the field blank and click Cancel.
