Important:
Umail was retired on November 19, 2019. You can no longer access your Umail account and its associated services (such as email or Sites).
Important:
Umail is only for former students who do not have an active status (for example, faculty, staff) and who separated from IU prior to March 11, 2018; see ARCHIVED: About the Umail upgrade. Current students use ARCHIVED: Gmail at IU. If you're unsure about what type of account you have, contact your campus Support Center.

To enable IMAP for your Umail account:

  1. Log into Umail using a web browser.
  2. At the top right of the Umail interface, click the gear icon and choose Settings; select Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
  3. In the "IMAP Access:" section, for "Status:", select Enable IMAP.
  4. Click Save Changes.
Note:
It may take up to 24 hours for the changes to take effect.
