Client virtualization provides a broad range of general-purpose and discipline-specific software applications you can access and run from your desktop, laptop, or mobile device, regardless of your geographic location. IUanyWare, the client virtualization service at IU, optimizes limited resources by allowing such access to certain IU-licensed applications using a web browser; you don't have to install them on your computer or mobile device.

The service aligns with the "philosophy of abundance" noted in IU's 2009 strategic plan for information technology, Empowering People, specifically:

IU should pursue strategies that approximate a philosophy of abundance, within reason, towards unmetered availability of basic IT services, support, and infrastructure for creative activity, storage, computation, communication, and other activities fundamental to the work of the university via any appropriate sourcing strategy.
