At IU, if I've forgotten my SafeWord PIN, what should I do?

If you've forgotten your SafeWord PIN at Indiana University, your options vary depending on your situation:

  • If the card has the originally assigned PIN, contact the UITS Accounts Administration office. In most cases, once staff there verify your identity, they can retrieve your PIN for you.

  • If the card no longer has the original PIN, the Accounts Administration office will have to reprogram the card. In this case, you will need to bring the card to the office. Alternatively, you can send the card via campus mail to:

    UITS Accounts Administration
    2711 E. Tenth Street
    Bloomington, IN 47408-2671

In some cases, departments have assigned people to handle extra SafeWord cards. For IUPUI, see the list of departmental SafeWord coordinators.

Note: If you are unable to verify your identity, you will need to visit your local campus computing center with a valid ID and request that the consultant contact the Accounts Administration office on your behalf.
