ARCHIVED: What is MIDI?
MIDI (short for Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a protocol that enables communication between electronic musical instruments, computers, and other equipment. The MIDI standard allows multiple sound devices to exchange data, and makes it possible to control multiple devices with a computer or another digital instrument. Note that MIDI transmits only MIDI commands, not an audio signal.
