ARCHIVED: What are STEPS workshops?
IT Training offers award-winning instructor-led workshops and advanced EdCert courses on more than 100 information technology topics. IT Training workshops are available on the Indiana University Bloomington and IUPUI campuses as well as online. Members of the statewide IU community can take workshops (not EdCert courses) at no charge, and the general public can take workshops and some EdCert courses for a nominal fee. IT Training workshops are hands-on, instructor-led workshops in word processing, email, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, presentations, statistics, programming, multimedia and web development, and more. Workshops range from introductory to advanced, and most last from 90 minutes to three hours each.
Because they are partially funded by the Student Technology Fee, these workshops are free for enrolled IU students only. However, you must present your IU student ID in order to receive free admission. IU faculty and staff members and the general public must pay a small fee to attend STEPS workshops.
Advance registration is recommended, but is not required. If any seats are available at the time of the workshop, walk-in registration will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. With advance notice, IT Training & Education can provide assistance for people with disabilities. Please use the contact information below if you have a need.
Most STEPS workshops meet in Indiana Memorial Union M088 or the Herman B Wells Library Information Commons STEPS classroom. The workshop location will be provided in your registration confirmation notice. Most workshops use exercise files that you can download for practice. Workshops also include materials you can keep.
