ARCHIVED: Make an SSH or SFTP connection to your Webserve account

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.
Note:

Due to the evolving coronavirus situation, the retirement of Webserve was delayed until April 16 to allow classes that reference sites on Webserve to continue with minimal disruption.

All remaining Webserve sites were disabled beginning April 16, along with login access to webserve.iu.edu. If you have websites that still need to be moved to IU Sitehosting, you should migrate immediately.

To upload files to or download files from your web account, use the following address:

  webserve.iu.edu

Webserve is the central web server for Indiana University Bloomington, IUPUI, IU Northwest, and IU Kokomo. Although you view your pages at www.indiana.edu, www.iupui.edu, www.iun.edu, www.iuk.edu, or www.iue.edu, Webserve handles all SSH and SFTP connections to the web server.

Alternatively, you can use Siteshare to access your Webserve account by mapping a network drive to the account. It will appear as if the account were stored locally on your computer.

Note:
For your individual web page on Pages ( pages.iu.edu), connect to Mercury to work with your files; see About pages.iu.edu.

If you have trouble connecting to Webserve, contact Support Center Tier 2.
