ARCHIVED: For dial-up access at IU, what are the minimum hardware and software requirements?

The lists below offer recommendations for hardware and software to use dial-up access at Indiana University:

PPP services for Mac OS or Mac OS X

Any Macintosh computer (68030 or better processor recommended)
A high-speed modem (at least 28.8Kbps recommended)
If your modem is external and doesn't use USB, it may require a hardware handshaking cable (usually included with the modem).

PPP services for a Windows computer

A high-speed modem (at least 28.8Kbps recommended)
Minimally, you need Windows 95 Version A, using the built-in Dial-up Networking component.
