ARCHIVED: In Windows, how do I install my Iomega Zip drive?
Windows Hardware Detection will not automatically detect your Zip drive when you connect it to the parallel port of your computer. You must install a driver for it. This driver comes with Windows 95 or 98. If you are using Windows Me, NT, 2000, or XP, you can find the driver on the Iomega CD that came with the Zip drive. The most recent version of the driver for all versions of Windows is also available at:
http://www.iomega.com/software/index.html
You don't need to have the Zip drive connected to the parallel or USB port to install the driver. In fact, for all of its external models, Iomega recommends installing the driver before you connect the drive. If you have an internal model, however, you should install the drive first.
Note: Windows NT 4.0 doesn't support USB devices. Iomega has a driver that is supposed to permit USB Zip drives to work under NT 4.0, but UITS does not support this driver.
