ARCHIVED: In Microsoft Outlook 97, 98, or 2000, or Exchange, how can I send or receive a fax?

Note: Outlook 2002 and 2003 do not support Microsoft Fax.
You need to configure the Microsoft Fax service before you can send or receive a fax. To configure Microsoft Fax service in Outlook or Exchange:
- From the menu, select .
- If
- Click the button.
- Select .
- Click .
- When you are prompted to configure your name, fax number, and modem, click .
is listed as an information service
setup in this profile, double-click it. If is
not listed, perform the following steps:
- In the "Your full name" field, enter your name.
- In the "Fax Number" field, enter your phone number.
- Click the tab at the top, then select a modem in the "Available Fax Modems" box.
- Click the button.
- Click .
- When you are notified that the changes you have made will not take effect until you restart your mail program, click .
- Click
Profile Properties
window. again to close the - Close the application, and then open it again.
When your mail program finishes loading, you should see a fax icon beside the clock in the Taskbar.
Send a fax
- From the menu, select .
- Enter the recipient's name and fax number, and then click the button.
- Click .
- You can choose to send a cover page, subject, notes, and files in the next steps. Choose the options you wish for your fax, clicking to continue through the options.
- Click when you are done. Your modem will dial and the fax will be sent.
Receive a fax
- When the phone rings, click the fax icon in the Taskbar.
- Click the button.
Note: You can configure the fax to automatically answer or set other fax options. Click the fax icon in the Taskbar, and then select
