ARCHIVED: In Oncourse, how do I access Authoring Tools?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

UITS no longer supports original Oncourse. For information about Indiana University's current version of Oncourse, see ARCHIVED: What is Oncourse?

If you are defined by the Office of the Registrar as the Faculty of Record for at least one course in the current semester, the Authoring Tools option will appear in the user profile that you see as soon as you log into Oncourse. You will also be able to access the Authoring Tools link on the Profile under "My Tools".

Other people (such as AIs) who have authoring privileges for a course but are not listed as the Faculty of Record can get to Authoring Tools by a less direct route:

  1. Log into Oncourse and enter your course.
  2. At the top of the page, click Tools.
  3. Click Authoring Tools.

Note: If you have redirected a course to a web page outside of the Oncourse environment, Authoring Tools will not be available from your external course page. In this case, Authoring Tools will be available only to the Faculty of Record.
