ARCHIVED: Why can't I connect to ES01?

For security reasons, ES01 accepts connections only from specific Indiana University-registered IP addresses. If you attempt to access ES01 from a non-registered IP address, you may receive the following error message:

ssh: connect to host es01 port 22: Operation timed out

To connect to ES01, you must use a workstation with an IUPUI- or IU Bloomington-registered IP name and address, or establish a virtual private network (VPN) connection to the IU VPN server.
