The Microsoft Management Console (MMC) is a console framework for managing applications. The MMC provides a common environment for snap-ins, which can be written by Microsoft or by independent software vendors.

MMC release 2.0 is available for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, while MMC release 1.2 is available for Windows 98, Me, NT 4.0, and 2000. Windows 2000 comes with MMC 1.2; you can download it for the other operating systems at:

Once you have installed the MMC, you can run it by clicking Start and selecting Run.... Then type mmc and click OK.
