If you have a Meridian business set (M5312 or M5316) or mini console with add-on modules, you can use the Message Waiting feature, which allows you to activate the Message Waiting lamp of other campus users, notifying them that you have tried to call. This feature also permits you to respond if Message Waiting has been activated against your set. Your telephone's Message Waiting lamp also indicates whether there is a voice mail message in your personal voice mail box.

Activating Message Waiting on another set

  1. Lift the handset or press Handsfree.
  2. Dial the on-campus telephone number.
  3. Press Transfer and listen for the special dial tone.
  4. Dial *86.
  5. Listen for the confirmation tone indicating the Message Waiting indicator of the telephone number you dialed is active.

Responding to a pending call request or message
