Work with playlists in Kaltura MediaSpace

Overview

Kaltura MediaSpace playlists are static lists of videos that can be accessed within MediaSpace or embedded into web pages. For others to view videos in your playlists, the videos must be either unlisted or published to a MediaSpace category or channel that your audience has permission to view.

Add items to a new or existing playlist

To add items to a new or existing MediaSpace playlist:

1. On the IU Welcome to MediaSpace! page, at the upper right, click the Guest icon ( or ), and then select Login.
2. Locate a media item you'd like to add to a new or existing playlist, and then click the item to open it.
3. From the Actions menu, select Add to playlist.
   Note:

   The Actions menu is located directly beneath the lower-right corner of the media item. If your browser window is too narrow, the menu may not display. If you don't see the Actions menu, increase the width of your browser window.
4. Create and select a new playlist, or select existing playlists:
   • New playlist: To add the item to a new playlist, first create the new playlist (in the "Create new playlist" field, enter a name for the playlist, and then click Create). Once it's created, your new playlist will appear under "Select Playlists"; check the box for the new list, and then click Save.
   • Existing playlists: To add the item to any existing playlists, under "Select Playlists", click the checkboxes next to the desired playlists, and then click Save.

When the media item is added successfully to your playlist(s), you'll see a green verification message (for example, "Media added to selected playlist/s: Playlist 1 , Playlist 2").

You may add additional items to your playlists at any time.

Use channel playlists

Create a channel playlist

To create a channel playlist in MediaSpace:

1. Navigate to a channel you own in MediaSpace.
2. At the top right, click the Settings icon, and select Edit.
3. Click the Playlists tab.
4. Click Create new and select Manual Playlist.
5. Enter a title for your playlist, and then use the lower section to add media from the channel to the new playlist.
6. Click Save.

When you view a channel in MediaSpace, that channel's playlists are displayed immediately under the channel banner. Click the name of the playlist to view it. While viewing the playlist, you can copy the page URL and use it to link directly to the playlist (as opposed to general playlists, which must be embedded).
