ARCHIVED: Echo360, Indiana University's lecture capture and personal capture solution, will be retired in 2017 and is currently read-only. Kaltura has been selected to replace Echo360 and is currently available to all IU students, faculty, and staff. Kaltura offers a robust and flexible environment for managing video recordings for a variety of purposes, and can be used for instruction via direct integration with Canvas.

Suggested actions

If you use Echo360, you should take steps to preserve any lecture capture or personal capture recordings you wish to keep. If you previously used Echo360's Personal Capture software, UITS encourages you to move to Kaltura's CaptureSpace application.

To migrate a recording from Echo360:

  1. In Canvas, navigate to the Echo360 tool, EchoCenter.
  2. From the content list on the left, select a recording.
  3. In the right pane, click the i icon.
  4. Next to "DOWNLOADS", click either Audio File or Video File to download.
    Note:
The Video File option does contain audio. Audio File contains only audio, no video.
  5. To upload your recording to Kaltura, see Upload media to Kaltura MediaSpace.
