ARCHIVED: Use Identity Finder Endpoint to classify your data

Important:
UITS decommissioned the Identity Finder service on February 28, 2019. Along with its edge partners, UITS has begun exploring alternative services and will start a proof of concept during 2019. For instructions for uninstalling Identity Finder, see Manually remove Spirion Identity Finder.

If you have the ARCHIVED: Identity Finder Endpoint client installed, you can assign a sensitivity level for Indiana University institutional data (Critical, Restricted, University-internal, or Public) to the file's metadata. For more about classifications of data, see Data classifications.

To classify a file:

  1. Right-click the file, and select Properties.
  2. Select the Classification tab.
  3. Choose IU Critical, IU Restricted, or IU University Internal, as appropriate.

If you're not certain how to classify the data, see Data classifications or use the Data Storage and Handling (DSH) tool.

If you don't already have Identity Finder installed, see ARCHIVED: Download and install Identity Finder Endpoint.
