ARCHIVED: Transfer your calendar from Umail to Google at IU

Important:
Umail was retired on November 19, 2019. You can no longer access your Umail account and its associated services (such as email or Sites).
Important:
- As of August 13, 2018, current IU students can no longer access or transfer Umail calendars. For assistance, contact your campus Support Center.
- Former students or alumni who separated from IU before March 11, 2018 may continue to use Umail and all associated Google apps (Drive, calendar, etc.) until further notice.
To transfer a Umail calendar to Google at IU, you'll first export your Umail calendar, and then import it into your Google calendar.
Export your Umail calendar
To export your Umail calendar:
- Open a private browsing window.
- Go to umail.iu.edu and click . Log in with your IU username and passphrase.
- Go to https://calendar.google.com/calendar/r/settings/export.
- In the "Export" section, click . A ZIP file will download to your computer.
- Take the individual ICS files out of the ZIP file so you can import them into your Google at IU calendar.
- Proceed to import your Umail calendar.
Import your Umail calendar
To import your Umail calendar:
- Go to https://google.iu.edu and click .
- Go to https://calendar.google.com/calendar/r/settings/export.
- In the "Import" section, click
.ics
or.csv
.
and select the file you exported. The file should end in - Choose which calendar to add the imported events to. By default, events will be imported into your primary calendar.
- Click Note:Repeating events might not be labeled that way if you import them from a
.csv
file, but they'll be on your calendar as a series of one-time events.
