At IU, where can I access Esri maps and data?

The Esri Data collection contains many types of map data at many scales of geography. The data are useful for general purpose basemaps and for more specific uses. For each geographic scale included, the significant basemap layers are boundaries, cities, rivers, and roads. Where possible, demographic data are provided for states, counties, and their equivalents. Vector datasets include the United States, Europe, Canada, Mexico, and the world. Image and elevation data are available for North America and the world.

Esri also offers the Esri Data & Maps group via ArcGIS Online, providing access to data layers from the Esri Data & Maps DVDs included with ArcGIS for Desktop. Indiana University students and faculty also may access Business Analyst Online and Community Analyst. To request access, contact the IU GIS team.

IU's license agreement with Esri allows students, faculty, and staff to access GIS datasets for educational use. Datasets include census and market data, and are updated annually. Access the datasets in Box at IU (log in with your IU username and passphrase). For information about how you may use the data, read the documentation included with the files.
