ARCHIVED: How do I access IU HPSS from my TeraGrid account?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

If you have a TeraGrid account, use a GridFTP client to connect to Indiana University's HPSS system (the Scholarly Data Archive) at:

  gridftp.mdss.iu.edu

For information on GridFTP clients, see How to Initiate Transfers: GridFTP Clients in the TeraGrid User Support documentation.

Before you can connect to IU HPSS using your TeraGrid certificate, you need to add it to Big Red. For help, email help@teragrid.org.

TeraGrid-only accounts (those that start with "tg-") are mostly limited to the GridFTP protocol. Other methods such as web, Kerberized FTP, Samba, and SFTP all require Kerberos authentication, rather than the GSI authentication that grids use. Kerberos authentication requires an IU Network ID.
