At IU, what is phpMyAdmin?

Note:
Due to security concerns, UITS does not recommend phpMyAdmin for management of New MySQL for Webserve databases; instead, use MySQL Workbench. After retirement of the Legacy MySQL for Webserve Service, official support for installation and management of phpMyAdmin may cease.

phpMyAdmin is a PHP application that provides a web-based interface for the administration of MySQL databases. For more, see the Legacy MySQL for Webserve user guide.

At Indiana University, you can access a customized version of phpMyAdmin on Webserve, IU's central web server. After you enter a few lines of configuration information, you will be able to connect to the Legacy MySQL for Webserve database service host at mysql.iu.edu.

For more information on using and configuring phpMyAdmin on Webserve, see the phpMyAdmin setup guide.
