Overview

Notes:
  • Taskstream is only available to students enrolled on the IUPUI campus and in the Schools of Education on the Bloomington, Kokomo, South Bend, and Southeast campuses.
    Important:
IUPUI's license agreement with Taskstream (which covers faculty, staff, and students at IUPUI and IUPUC) ends on September 30, 2019. For details, see About the Taskstream transition at IUPUI.
  • The School of Education at Bloomington creates Taskstream accounts for their students. They do not need to create a Taskstream account via Canvas.
  • If you receive a message indicating that your account has expired when you attempt to log in, contact your campus Support Center. If you are currently enrolled at IU and covered under the current license agreement with Taskstream, arrangements will be made to reactivate your account.

Whether your program plans to continue with Taskstream or migrate to a different assessment platform, making local copies of your assessment data is always a good idea. It's especially important to do so before your Taskstream license expires. DRF program managers can find instructions on how to export or download reports, student artifacts, and rubrics from Taskstream below.

Export Taskstream reports

Before you begin

Note the following for both methods of exporting reports:

  • The Export to Excel and Print options for Taskstream reports only export the current view. Be sure to navigate to and export all the pages you want to save for a given report.
  • To keep report pages and associated artifacts organized, consider creating a separate folder with a meaningful name for each report before beginning the export process. Then save all of the associated report files and artifacts in that folder.

Export to Excel

To export a Taskstream report to Microsoft Excel format:

  1. Log into Taskstream.
  2. In the global navigation menu, click TS Coordinator.
  3. In the "DRF (Directed Response Folio) Assessment System" panel, click DRF Program Reports.
  4. Open a saved report or generate the report you wish to export.
  5. Select the desired options for the current view.
  6. Click Export to Excel. A pop-up window will open.
  7. Select Data Export or Formatted Data/Print View, and click Continue.
  8. Save the file to your local storage device or cloud account with a meaningful name.
  9. Close the pop-up window, return to the report, and navigate (drill down) to other views of the report.
  10. Repeat steps 5-8 for each view you wish to save.
  11. Open the files in Excel to make sure the reports contain what you expected.
  12. Repeat steps 3-11 for each report you wish to save.

Print or save to PDF

To print or create a PDF version of a Taskstream report:

  2. In the global navigation menu, click TS Coordinator.

  4. Open a saved report or generate the report you wish to export.

  7. Click Send to Printer Now.
  8. Your browser will display your printer settings. Select the desired settings to print or save to PDF. If saving to PDF, be sure to give the file a meaningful name.
  9. Close the pop-up print view window, return to the report, and navigate (drill down) to other views of the report.
  10. Repeat steps 5-8 for each view you wish to save.
  11. Repeat steps 3-10 for each report you wish to save.

Download student artifacts

Shortly after the IUPUI license expires (September 30, 2019), Taskstream will prepare an archive containing all file artifacts submitted to DRF programs. According to Taskstream, the artifacts will be organized into folders by DRF program and accompanied with a plain text file indicating the author of each file. Once the archive is available, DRF managers can request a complete archive of the artifacts submitted to their programs. Information about how to request your files will be available later in 2019.

If you only need a small, representative sample of artifacts and would prefer not to wait until October, you can download artifacts one at a time via the Taskstream interface. To download individual student artifacts:

  1. Log into Taskstream.
  2. In the global navigation menu, click TS Coordinator.
  3. In the "DRF (Directed Response Folio) Assessment System" panel, click DRF Program Reports.
  4. Open a saved report or generate a report that links to the artifacts you wish to save.
  5. Drill down to the report view containing links to a student's submission(s).
  6. Right-click the link to the artifact, and select your browser's option to save the file.
  7. Save the file to your local storage device or cloud account with a meaningful name.
  8. Navigate to another student view and repeat steps 6-7.

Export rubrics

You can export Taskstream rubrics to Microsoft Word format. If standards are aligned with rubric criteria, they will be included in the export. To export a rubric:

  1. Log into Taskstream.
  2. In the global navigation menu, click TS Coordinator.
  3. In the "DRF (Directed Response Folio) Assessment System" panel, click Rubric Wizard.
  4. Click the title of the rubric you want to export, and then click Edit or view this rubric.
  5. Click Print/Export.
  6. In the pop-up window, click Export to Word.
  7. Save the file to your local storage device or cloud account with a meaningful name.
  8. Close the pop-up window, and click the All Rubrics tab to return to your list of rubrics.
  9. Repeat steps 4-7 for each rubric you wish to save.
