Library/research tools in Canvas

Some campus, school, and departmental libraries maintain guides to research techniques or online lists of academic resources and databases that are useful for their students. You can access these through the Library Resources, Library Research Guide, or Research Help tool that appears in your Canvas course navigation.

IU Bloomington - Research Help

At IU Bloomington, the Research Help tool can be configured to link directly to course-specific library content. If desired, library staff will create a course guide for your class, which will then be available via the Research Help course navigation item within your course. To request the creation of a course-specific research guide, email the Libraries' Teaching & Learning department at libinstr@iu.edu.

If you do not request a course-specific guide, the Research Help course navigation item will link to a guide providing more general library research help.

Students can also access the IU Bloomington Libraries website directly from Canvas via the "IU Libraries" course navigation item within your course.

IU Indianapolis - Library Research Guide

At IU Indianapolis, you can configure the Library Research Guide tool to link directly to course-specific library content. If desired, library staff will create a course guide for your class, which will then be available via the Library Research Guide course navigation item within your course, or embedded within a Canvas module, assignment, page or quiz. Regional campuses - Library Resources

If the Library Resources tool can't find library resources for your course, it will redirect users to an appropriate library page. For example, at IU Kokomo it will redirect to the Indiana University Kokomo Library home page.

IU Southeast: If desired, IUS librarians can create a course guide for your class; to request the creation of a course-specific research guide, use the Ask a Librarian form.
