At IU, what should I do if I cannot connect to SDA?

If you cannot connect to the Scholarly Data Archive (SDA) at Indiana University, follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Check your computer and its network connection. Check your computer's network cable to make sure it didn't get unplugged accidentally. Open a web browser to check whether you can view (IU and external) websites; if you cannot, you may have a network problem locally (in your office or department), or the IU network may be experiencing a problem. Also, check whether colleagues in another room are experiencing similar problems; if they are not, the problem most likely exists in your office. Your office may have a physical network problem, or your computer's network settings may not be configured properly. For help identifying and fixing the problem, consult your office or departmental IT Pro.
    To learn the name of your department's IT Pro, consult your supervisor or your departmental website. If you still cannot identify your IT Pro, call the UITS Support Center at 812-855-6789 (Bloomington) or 317-274-4357 (Indianapolis).
  2. If you determine the problem is not related to your computer or its network connection, check with your local systems administrator and/or Status.IU for a reported network outage, an ongoing denial of service attack, or a scheduled or unscheduled maintenance period.
  3. If you determine the problem is not related to a network outage, denial of service attack, or maintenance period, try connecting to the IU Globus Web App; see Use the IU Globus Web App for SDA and DC2 file transfers. Alternatively, log into your account on one of IU's research computing systems, and then try accessing the SDA via HSI. If you cannot connect to the SDA via the web interface or HSI, the problem most likely is the result of an issue on the SDA backend; email the UITS Research Storage team for help.
