About applying for a Research allocation on XSEDE

You should consider requesting a Research allocation on the Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) if:

  • You already have had an XSEDE Startup or Education allocation; see What types of XSEDE allocations are available?
  • You have an ongoing major project that you plan to move to XSEDE.
  • Your project's computation and/or visualization needs exceed 30,000 service units (SUs).

Applications for Research allocations are subject to peer review, and you should allot yourself enough time to prepare a good request. Requested allocation amounts for compute, storage, and/or Extended Collaborative Support Services must be detailed and justified in supporting documents, and should be clearly linked to your project's scientific goals and your proposed research plan.
