ARCHIVED: Completed project: HPS integration with AMS account generation
Primary UITS contact: Peg Lindenlaub
Completed: March 28, 2008
Description: The High Performance Systems (HPS) group
worked with AMS to add Big Red, Libra, RDC, and Quarry to
the itaccounts.iu.edu
web pages to facilitate account
generation on these clusters.
Milestones and status:
- October 1: Big Red and Quarry available on the Account Management
Service web page,
http://itaccounts.iu.edu/
- November 26: Libra available on
http://itaccounts.iu.edu/
- March 13: RDC available on
http://itaccounts.iu.edu/
Comment process: Send email to HPS.
Benefits:
- GIDs were synced across all HPS clusters.
- Kerberos data is used to disable/delete accounts.
- User information was loaded into a Postgres database managed by HPS staff and will be used to report usage on the clusters.
- AMS account information was synced with the
/etc/passwd
files on the clusters.
Primary client: IU students, faculty, and staff and IU affiliates
Client impact: IU students, faculty, and staff and IU affiliates may now easily request accounts on HPS systems. Accounts are created within an hour of the request and a confirmation is sent via email to the individual who made the request. Automating this process has greatly improved turnaround time on account requests for our customers.
