ARCHIVED: Why won't my email account accept a subscription confirmation message from XSEDE News?

When you subscribe to an Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) mailing list via the XSEDE News page, you may receive the following error message:

The email address you entered - (username@domain.com) - did not accept the Subscription Confirmation Message sent in response to your new subscription. Please try a different email address.

If this happens, check if your email system has added news@xsede.org to its spam blocking list. Some institutional email systems (e.g., at universities or colleges) may filter all messages from news systems. If this is the case for you, try using another email address outside the institutional domain (e.g., a Gmail account).
