ARCHIVED: What is the Community Climate System Modeling Portal?

The Community Climate System Model (CCSM) is a fully coupled climate model providing simulations of the Earth's past, present, and future climate states. Administered by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), the CCSM is intended to help researchers understand and predict the Earth's climate system.

The CCSM Portal, an Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) Science Gateway developed by Purdue University, lets researchers run CCSM simulations on resources without having to individually port and install the CCSM on their desktop or laptop computers. The CCSM portal uses an XSEDE community allocation for running simulations, so individual users do not need to acquire their own XSEDE accounts. Online audio tutorials are available on the CCSM Portal home page.

For more about XSEDE Science Gateways, see the Science Gateways page on the XSEDE website.
