ARCHIVED: Why Skype for Business shows the wrong name in the conversation window

Note:

Office telephone service for faculty and staff at Indiana University has transitioned from Skype for Business to Teams Calls.

Use Microsoft Skype for Business to access Indiana University's UniCom service.

If you use Skype for Business to call a phone number that is shared by more than one person (such as a call center), it will show the name of the first person listed under that number in the Active Directory, regardless of who picks up the call. Thus, if you've stored the number as a contact associated with a particular person's name, it is possible that the person whose name you click to initiate the call, the person who actually answers the phone, and the person whose name is shown in the conversation window will be three different people.

If this situation does not apply to you and your name is displayed incorrectly, it may be wrong in the Global Address List; see View and modify your personal information (such as preferred name, home address, birthday, or emergency contacts) for IU employees, groups, or affiliates.
