Why is Skype for Business/Lync showing the wrong name in the conversation window?

Use Microsoft Skype for Business/Lync to access Indiana University's UniCom service.

If you use Skype for Business/Lync to call a phone number that is shared by more than one person (such as a call center), it will show the name of the first person listed under that number in the Active Directory, regardless of who picks up the call. Thus, if you've stored the number as a contact associated with a particular person's name, it is possible that the person whose name you click to initiate the call, the person who actually answers the phone, and the person whose name is shown in the conversation window will be three different people.

If this situation does not apply to you and your name is displayed incorrectly, it may be wrong in the Global Address List; see Change faculty, staff, group, or affiliate information.

To learn how to perform common tasks in the Skype for Business/Lync client, see the UniCom page. Also, see Microsoft's Skype for Business help pages or the Lync for Mac user guide.

For an introduction to UniCom, including how-to PDFs and videos, see UniCom.
