To use the phpMyAdmin web interface to administer your MySQL database on Indiana University's Research Database Complex (RDC):

  1. In your web browser, access the phpMyAdmin interface.
  2. On the Central Authentication Service (CAS) page, log in with your Network ID username and passphrase.

You'll land on the phpMyAdmin login screen.

  3. In the "Username" field, enter root.
  4. In the "Password" field, enter your MySQL database password.
  5. From the "Server Choice" drop-down list, select the server name and port number matching the information you received in your MySQL database welcome letter.

The choices will be similar to rdc04.uits.iu.edu:XXXX, in which XXXX is a four-digit port number.

If you have lost your port number information, email High Performance Systems for help.

After logging in, you can create a new database, view information about existing databases, and access online phpMyAdmin documentation, the phpMyAdmin wiki, and the phpMyAdmin home page.
