Windows

To determine the manufacturer of a PCI device from within Windows:

  1. Open Device Manager; see ARCHIVED: In Windows, what is the Device Manager, and how can I use it?
  2. To expand the list of devices, click the + (plus sign) next to the category of the device you want to verify. Right-click the device you want, and then select Properties.
  3. Click the Details tab. From the drop-down menu, select Hardware IDs.

This will display a set of identification codes as in the example below:

  PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7183&SUBSYS_0D021028&REV_00

The four characters that appear after VEN_ are an identification code for the manufacturer of the device. To find the manufacturer of your device, enter the manufacturer code at:

  http://www.pcidatabase.com/

Following the example above, in the Vendor Search field, you would enter 1002, and then click Search.
