The following instructions apply to XML schema definition (XSD) files, which define forms for use in portfolio tools such as Matrices. Typically, site coordinators perform the actions described below.

If you own more than one site, you may want to use the same form in two or more sites. To do so, you may either recreate the form from the .xsd file in Resources, or export the form to your desktop as a compressed file and then import it to the other site(s) where you plan to use it. Exported forms are saved as .zip archives.

Exporting a form

  1. In the menubar of the portfolio site with the form you want to export, click Forms.
  2. On the "Manage Forms" page, click Export below the name of the form you want to export.
  3. Your browser will prompt you to open or save the file. Save the file to a local storage device. The exported form will have a .zip extension.

Importing a form

  1. In the menubar of the portfolio site to which you want to import the form, click Forms.
  2. At the top of the "Manage Forms" page, click Import.
  3. Click Select File.
  4. On the "Add Attachments" page, you can:
    • Select the exported form (a .zip archive) if it has already been uploaded to a Resources folder. Click Select next to the file if it is in the current site, or click Show other sites to navigate to the site containing the .zip file you wish to add, and then click Select.
    • Upload the exported form (a .zip archive) if it is not already in Resources. From the Add menu next to the appropriate folder, choose Upload Files. Click Browse to navigate to the appropriate file on your local computer, and select it. Then click Upload Files Now.
  5. At the bottom of the "Add Attachment" page, click Continue.
  6. Click Import.

After completing the steps above, you will return to the "Manage Forms" page, where the imported form will be listed. The form will have the same name and instructions as it had on its original site; you may edit the title and instructions, or publish it as is. See ARCHIVED: Editing form names or instructions and ARCHIVED: Publishing a portfolio form.
