ARCHIVED: Getting started with IU eTexts

If you're an instructor who has not yet requested to use IU eTexts in a class you're teaching, see IU eTexts and ARCHIVED: At IU, how do I search for and adopt IU eTexts?

If you're enrolled in, or teaching, a class using IU eTexts, you'll use Courseload Engage to access digital texts; see the appropriate section below.

For help with Courseload Engage, contact the Support Center.

Oncourse

The Courseload eTexts tool will be enabled in the course site automatically. To access the tool:

  1. Initiate your first session by logging into Oncourse and navigating to the relevant course.
  2. In the menubar, click Courseload eTexts.

Note: Courseload should log you in automatically; if it does not, you can change your browser's cookie settings to accept third-party cookies. This should allow you to access Courseload Engage without a separate login for subsequent sessions. See How do I view and control cookies in my Internet browser?

  3. Courseload Engage will open in a new tab with your relevant information (i.e., course name and instructor) and books.

You can also access IU eTexts materials from My Workspace for any class you've been in that has used Courseload or Courseload Engage in Oncourse. To do so:

  1. In the My Workspace menubar, click Courseload eText Archive.
  2. In the upper left, click All Archived Semesters and Courses.
  3. Click the same link again, and select a semester. You can then select texts from that semester.

Canvas

Instructors: See In Canvas, how do I add Courseload Engage to my course?

To access your eTexts:

  1. Initiate your first session by logging into Canvas and navigating to the relevant course.
  2. In the course site navigation, click Courseload Engage.

Note: The link text may vary, depending on how your instructor sets up the tool. If you have any questions about how to access your course materials, check with your instructor.
