ARCHIVED: Completed project: Twitter@IU
Primary UITS Contact: Kristy Kallback-Rose
Completed: April 21, 2011
Description: Somewhat of a spin-off from a project proposed to the Futures Council, Twitter@IU provides a searchable directory of IU-related Twitter feeds. These feeds are presented in categories to make it easier to find one of interest.
Outcome: A Twitter@IU web presence has been established which allows viewing of IU-related Twitter feeds by category or search. It also provides a mechanism for additional feeds to be added to the catalog.
Like the podcast portal, this site is designed to make it easy to find IU-related information.
Milestones and status: Twitter@IU (http://twitter.iu.edu/) was released in beta version on October 15, 2009, and was moved into production in April, 2011. Since the launch, over 150 IU-related feeds have been added to the directory.
A link to twitter.iu.edu is featured on the new IU gateway page, and has been featured in various electronic news magazines from IU Media Relations.
Comment process: Tweet to iutweet
, or send email.
Benefits: IU-related Twitter feeds are easier to find, resulting in more followers, and more people aware of what's going on at IU.
